Om Sumday, March 13, the Troop hosted a cookie both at the local Lowe's store. It was a very successful day in that the girls sold over 230 boxes of cookies in a 4-hour time span. The girls are quite the cookie-sellers!

Cookie Time

On March 7, the Girl Scout cookies arrived. The troop as a whole sold 147 cases of cookies, including 10 cases of Operation Cookie Share. That's a lot of cases to be picked up, sorted and delivered. The top selling cookie for the troop was the Caramel DeLites.

From the Heart

Angela and Anneliese joined the Council for an afternoon of Valentine fun. They joined other Junior Girl Scouts, Brownies and Daisies in making Valentine cards, decorating Valentine containers and decorating Valentine cookies.

Thinking Day Postcard Exchange

The Troop particiapted in the International Thinking Day Postcard Exchange for the first time this year. We received requests from over 140 Girl Scout and Girl Guide troops representing 40 states and 5 different countries to trade postcards and e-cards. No trade request was declined. The postcards are starting to roll in. This is a great oppportunity to learn about girls just like them from different parts of their state, their country and their world.

Greetings from Girl Scout Jr. Troop 6343 from Springfield, Illinois, USA! We’re a group of 12 fun-loving, very chatty 4th grade girls who love getting out and about in our community. We’ve been together since we were Daisies. This is first year of being Junior Girl Scouts and our first year participating in the Postcard Exchange. We have just completed our Agent of Change Journey adventure. As part of our Agent of Change journey we cooked and served dinner at our local Ronald McDonald House.

Springfield, the Illinois State capitol, is located in Central Illinois about 4 hours southwest of Chicago & 2 hours northeast of St. Louis, MO. Springfield’s most famous citizen is Abraham Lincoln. Each year over 1 million visitors come to see Springfield’s historic sites which includes the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum, the Lincoln Home and neighborhood, Lincoln’s Tomb, Lincoln’s New Salem and more. Most of the historic sites are featured in our above postcard.

It's Your World - Change It!

On Friday, February 4, the Troop met at the local Ronald McDonald House to prepare and serve dinner for the House guests. The girls delivered the pop tabs they had been collecting and the flower arrangements they had previously made. After a House tour and explanation of the purpose of the House, the girls got busy making dinner. Their menu included Italian Beef sandwiches, vegetable soup, chips, vegetable trays and homemade desserts.

Agent of Change - Power of Team

The girls earned their Power of Team Award by working together as a team to plan their upcoming community service project for the lcoal Ronald McDoanld house and by reading the comic book Super story in the Agent of Change book. All year, in anticipation of a February tour, the girls have been collecting pop can tabs for the local Ronald McDonald House. As a team, the girls decided to cook and serve dinner for the House residents as part of their tour. As a team the girls decided and planned their dinner menu and created some to-do-lists. They finished their evening making paper flower bouquets to use as table decorations and to leave as gifts for the residents.
